Can Pets Hold Emotional Stress? (And How It Affects Their Behaviour)

Something feels off with your pet… and you can’t shake it.

It’s not always something obvious, either. Sometimes it’s just small changes — they’re a bit more anxious than usual, a bit more reactive, or just not quite themselves. Other times, it’s something physical that doesn’t fully make sense, even after vet visits.

You’ve tried to help. You’ve paid attention, adjusted things, done what you can — but nothing seems to fully resolve it.

And that’s the part that gets to you.

Because when it’s your pet, it’s not just frustrating - it’s heartbreaking. You can see something isn’t right, you can feel it… but you don’t have clear answers.

There’s this underlying helplessness in not knowing what’s actually going on, or how to properly support them.

You know them so well, and when something’s off, you feel it instantly. But they can’t tell you what’s wrong, and you’re left trying to figure it out on your own.

After a while, it starts to get to you. You want to help them so badly, and it’s hard watching them go through something when you don’t know what else to try.

And it leaves you feeling like there has to be something you haven’t found yet.

If this work is brand new to you, you may like to understand what the Body Code is and how it works first.

Can pets actually hold emotional stress?

Most people assume issues with pets are either:

  • training-related

  • or purely physical

But that’s not always the full picture.

Because animals don’t just respond to their environment… they feel it.

They pick up on emotional energy, stress in their environment and changes in the people around them.

And unlike humans - they don’t have a way to process or rationalise that.

So sometimes… they hold onto it.

These are often referred to as trapped emotions - emotional energies that haven’t been processed or released.

And over time, they can start to show up as:

  • behaviour changes that don’t make sense

  • heightened sensitivity or reactivity

  • physical symptoms with no clear cause

Not because something is “wrong” with your pet…

But because something hasn’t been released yet.

How this can show up in your pet

This doesn’t always look dramatic.

Sometimes it’s subtle.

You might notice:

  • anxiety or nervous behaviour

  • sudden changes in mood

  • reactivity or sensitivity

  • unexplained habits or patterns

  • physical symptoms with no clear cause

And while these can have physical explanations, sometimes that’s only part of the picture.

It’s not always just physical

This is where most approaches fall short.

They focus on what you can see:

  • behaviour

  • training

  • physical symptoms

And sometimes that helps… temporarily.

But if something deeper is driving it, those changes don’t always last.

Because you’re trying to fix the effect… not the cause.

Working at the root level

This is where the Body Code comes in - a method that works directly with the subconscious to identify and clear imbalances held within the body.

Instead of focusing only on what you can see, we work with the subconscious to identify and clear imbalances held within the body.

That can include:

  • emotional stress

  • energetic imbalances

  • underlying patterns affecting behaviour or wellbeing

And this can be done remotely — without your pet needing to be physically present.

If you’re curious how this works in practice, you can read more about how a remote session works here.

What this can support

When those deeper imbalances are released,
things can start to shift in a way that actually lasts.

You might notice:

  • your pet finally settling

  • less anxiety or reactivity

  • a return to their normal personality

  • physical symptoms easing or disappearing

Not forced.
Not trained.

Just… different.

Like something that was “stuck” has finally let go.

A complementary approach to your pet’s care

It’s important to note this work doesn’t replace veterinary care and proper training.

If your pet has a medical issue, always seek professional advice.

But in many cases, this work can support your pet alongside other approaches - especially when something feels unresolved.

If you know something isn’t right with your pet…
and you’re not getting clear answers…

There’s a reason it still feels unresolved.

This work looks at what most approaches don’t —
what’s happening beneath the surface.
